Legendary stylist, Christo aka the “King of Curls” graciously invited me to his ever-so-chic salon in Midtown, Manhattan – and I experienced what it’s really like to get a luxury hair cut in NYC.
Prior to my couture hair cut with Senior Designer, Ivan Torres, I was given an 8 minute deep therapy masque to ease the dryness of my locks – and it seriously did wonders. Following the treatment, my hair was washed and conditioned, along with a head massage that was so relaxing I never wanted it to end!
When it came time for my couture cut, I was seated in front of one of the salon’s customized mahogany stations, which all feature carved Greek ornamental motifs. Having grown up in Cyprus, Christo brings a very unique and sophisticated design to his salon, which only adds to the amazing experience you receive there.
Aside from hair services, Christo also carries a line of hair products specifically designed for curly hair, but can also be used on straight hair as well. I was lucky enough to receive some of his top-of-the-line hair products, and have attached some photos of my favorite ones!
Curlisto Products
1. Curlisto Blow Me Clean Dry Shampoo: I am always on the hunt for a good dry shampoo; one that actually absorbs the oil but also works to clean my hair. The Curlisto Blow Me Clean Dry Shampoo is great because it not only refreshes hair, but also neutralizes odors. It does this by absorbing excess sebum and build-up. On top of that, this dry shampoo also adds volume to hair, ultimately rejuvenating tired locks and creating a long-lasting look.
2. Curlisto Botanical Shampoo: A gentle shampoo for all curl types. This shampoo is multi-functional, as it balances PH levels as well as purifying hair. Aloe, chamomile, cherry bark, henna and calendula are all active ingredients, which work to help add moisture and shine. This shampoo is also color safe, which is essential for me since I have blonde ombre.
3. Curlisto Botanical Rinse Conditioner: This light detangling conditioner is designed for all hair types, and instantly restores moisture with aloe barbadensis leaf juice and jojoba seed oil. It also works to tame unmanageable curls by sealing the cuticle and locking in vital nutrients. I have very tangly hair, and this conditioner made it a lot easier to comb it out after washing.
1. Deep Therapy Masque: In other words, the “8-minute Hair Repair” masque that I received upon arrival to the salon. Active ingredients include: rice, corn and wheat proteins that work together to rebuild the keratin inside the cortex. I was given two bottles to take home and after using the masque a few times since my visit, my hair is definitely more noticeably healthy, as well as frizz-free.
