Up until a few years ago, I never thought makeup primers were really necessary-merely an extra layer of makeup and an extra step in the daily makeup regime. However, I came to realize that primers are to foundations as lip liner is to lipstick! You just can’t have one without the other. One of my favorite primers, Chanel Base Lumière Illuminating Makeup Base is not only my go-to primer but a primer I recommend to my lovely readers!
The Chanel Base Lumière is an oil-free gel makeup base that is meant to illuminate and even out the complexion. In my opinion, it does that and more! The texture is almost like a lotion or moisturizer-which is quite different from the silkier formulas like Smashbox and Prime Time. It’s incredible how much of a difference primer can make, and you’ll notice it when you start applying foundation by how evenly it will blend in. Another advantage to using a primer is how much longer your foundation will last throughout the day. Not only that, but using a primer also creates an even complexion and creates a barrier between your foundation and your pores.
