Review: American Apparel’s “Mannequin” Nail Polish

American Apparel Mannequin Nail Polish

After a few years of wild and colorful nail trends, it’s nice to go back to the basics once in a while, and what better way to do that than with a complimentary nude color? Even as a loyal Essie fan, I must say that their wide selection of nude colors are never opaque enough for my liking. Most of their nude shades require several coats just to cover up the actual nail from showing through, and as any nail polish lover knows, it’s never smart to apply more than 2 coats. So I had to look elsewhere for the “perfect nude shade.”

Ever since my days of modeling at American Apparel, I have always sworn by their nail polishes because 1. They have a wide and great selection of colors 2. They are very opaque-so if I’m in a hurry, I can get away with applying only 1 coat of this stuff! and 3. It dries very quickly. That being said, I knew that’s where I had to start my search for the perfect nude shade and after being sold out for months, “Mannequin” finally restocked and immediately entered my shopping cart.

I read several online reviews about this particular shade that criticized it for being “streaky” but I however did not notice this. It may be possible that it was sold out for a while because they were fixing this rumored “defect” but anyhow, I love this color and my long-awaited search for my go-to nude shade finally ended. Check out the photos below of of how I styled this color with my claw acrylics and knuckle rings!

  2. Nice nude! I am also going through a nude polish phase right now. I just got Revlon Colorstay in Sand Nude. Perfect compliment to my skin with just enough pink to not look flat or too fleshy.
