Essie Hip-Anema vs Essie Fifth Avenue

So I’m excited to announce a new section within my blog dedicated to product dupes! With the consistent release of new Essie collections, there is bound to be several dupes and one in particular that caught my eye was how similar Essie’s “Hip-Anema” and “Fifth Avenue” are.

“Hip-Anema” was released in Essie’s recent 2013 Spring Collection, while “Fifth Avenue” was released a couple years ago. It’s almost impossible to tell the two apart in the bottles. Fifth Avenue is described as a “stylish and creamy red-orange blend” and Hip-Anema as a “a poppy-bright red orange” according to Essie.

Side by side, these two colors are pretty much identical. Below is Hip-Anema.

I then painted my last two nails with Fifth Avenue so the colors would be side by side.

Once I painted the two colors on my nails, I stared at the two colors side by side long enough to conclude that Fifth Avenue is a teeny bit more orangey. You can’t really see this difference in the photo but in person, I did notice. But it would be impossible to tell the difference unless you examined them close enough.

If I had to choose between the two, I would have to go with Hip-Anema only because I found the formula to be a bit thicker. If you already have one of these colors, I definitely wouldn’t recommend buying both because it’s just too hard to tell them apart.
