Beauty Uses for Baby Powder

Beauty Uses for Baby PowderOne of the most versatile and multi-functional products could very well already be in your possession (hiding in your medicine cabinet) and you didn’t even know it. Let’s talk about baby powder.

Ah, nothing like the nostalgic smell of baby powder to bring me back to my toddler days. If you thought all it was good for was treating diaper rash, then please, for your own sake, continue reading.

1. Prolong your lipstick

This may be my favorite baby powder use of all – being that I’m a lipstick junkie. To help your lipstick last longer, dab a small amount of baby powder between two coats of lipsticks.

2. Dry Shampoo

Baby powder brilliantly doubles as a dry shampoo – and I must say I actually prefer this to the real thing. I’ve tried several different brands of dry shampoo and nothing has compared to how well baby powder works to conceal the greasy strands! I’ve read that you can add bronzer to the powder if you are a brunette but I personally prefer to use small amounts and rub it in to blend.

3. Eyelash Thickener

If you want faux-looking lashes without the hassle of applying falsies – baby powder just became your new best friend. Begin by dipping a q-tip in the baby powder and applying on both the top and bottom lashes. Then apply your usual mascara (2 coats to seal in the powder) and voila! The baby powder acts as a primer but with more of a kick. Similar to fiber lashes but definitely much easier to take off at the end of the day.

4. Aftershave

After shaving, pour some baby powder on your skin. It has a cooling/drying effect and will double as an aftershave.

5. Set your Makeup

If you’re ever running low on translucent powder, you can use baby powder to set your makeup. Use a large powder brush and only dab a small amount to ensure translucency. This is also great if you have naturally oily skin because it will absorb excess oil and leave your skin looking more matte.

6. Wax Primer

If you are brave enough to wax yourself then this is a great tip! Before you begin, apply baby powder to the area you’ll be waxing. Not only does it allow the wax to better adhere to the hair but it has a fresh cooling effect on your skin as well.

7. Deodorant

This is an interesting use and I would probably recommend opting for regular deodorant first, but baby powder can also be used under your arms to absorb perspiration. It also is known to mask odor, which is why many people often put some in their sneakers before working out.

Do you use baby powder for any of these things? Let me know other ways you use baby powder in your beauty routines in the comments below! 🙂
